Moony joins ‘The Kitchen Musical’

One of my favorite shows, the hit TV series “Kitchen Musical,” will resume its second season this May, according to my sources.

Promising new faces will be introduced in the series, including four Filipinos, namely Steven Silva, Red Concepcion, Dax Martin and Kate Alejandrino. What do they have in common? They all work-out in our gym in Ortigas.

Meanwhile, I had the opportunity to meet one of the cast members nicknamed the “Barbie Doll from Down Under,” Natalia “Moony” Moon.

The 22-year-old singer and songwriter was in the gym trading powerful kicks with Steven and Kate. Apparently, she fell in love with Muay Thai. We had the chance to have a lengthier chinwag after she finished her abdominal exercises.

I was surprised at how Natalia has mastered the Filipino language; her Tagalog was even more refined than mine. She asserts that she loves our language and, in fact, is coming out with an all-Filipino album titled “Pusong Pinoy.”

Natalia appears regularly (Mondays through Fridays) on ABS-CBN’s “Banana Nite,” She was also featured on Jessica Soho’s show and even sang “Pusong Bato” on “Unang Hirit.”

I am excited to see Natalia in season 2 of the “Kitchen Musical,” which has already earned nominations at the prestigious 2012 New York Festivals (NYF) under the International Television and Film Awards competition for Best Writing and Best Performance.

According to its creator, Chee Kong Cheah, “these acknowledgments from a jury of award-winning industry professionals from around the world who are recognized as leaders in their respective fields, will propel us to continue to follow our instincts, buck the trend, and produce creations that increase the happiness quotients globally.”
